Authorization types
Depending on the services they perform – banking operations, investment services, payment services and electronic money - financial companies are licenced in the following categories (available for the first 7 of them in the register Regafi):
Banks and other credit institutions
Financing companies (which may not receive deposits and other repayable funds)
Investment firms (note: portfolio management companies are licensed by the AMF. For a list, click here)
Payment services providers
Account information services providers
Electronic money institutions
Exchange offices
Companies which grant an exemption from authorization
Microfinance institutions
Financial companies, which have one or more subsidiary financial firms, but not engaged in financial activities themselves
Agents providing payment services for the account, and under the responsibility of credit institutions or payment services provider.
