Authorization on financial sector

In France, as in most other countries, to carry on banking activities, to provide investments or payment services and to issue and administer electronic money, firms need an authorisation from the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR) at the Banque de France.

This system, governed by the Monetary and Financial Code, is justified by several concerns, including public protection and monitoring of money and credit.

The Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution – ACPR can also revocate autorisation in case of cessation of activity or if the company no longer meets the conditions or commitments for which its authorisation is conditioned or for disciplinary reasons.
